Discover Costa Teguise by Hire Car
Costa Teguise is a town created specifically for tourism, about ten kilometres from the island’s capital Arrecife on the east coast of Lanzerote.
The island is one of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Currently, just under 5000 locals live in the tourist stronghold of Costa Teguise with whose construction began in the early 70s.
History and PRESENCE OF COSTA TEGUISE
Originally, the famous Canarian architect Cesar Manrique was in charge of the project and, in the style of the island, did not build houses with more than two floors. Windows were framed in green and brown, as is customary in the country.
Today, however, there are also several large hotel complexes and Manrique’s initial ideas, can only be discovered in the centre of Costa Teguise, in the holiday village of Pueblo Marinero, on the Avenida de las Islas Canarias.
FREE TIME IN COSTA TEGUISE
One of the big plus points in Costa Teguise are the fantastic, fine sandy beaches right on the doorstep. Quiet Atlantic shores, partly protected by breakwaters, offer the ideal terrain for all kinds of water sports. Especially windsurfers from all over the world enjoy steady winds and consistent waves at Las Cucharas beach.
However, 640 metres long, there are also plenty of restaurants, sports equipment hire shops, and sun loungers and umbrellas here. Other picturesque beaches can be found in Los Charcos, El Jabillo and Bastin. The romantic promenade of Costa Teguise invites you to stroll along the entire length of the town along the sea with its cosy tavernas.
Exploring THE SURROUNDINGS OF COSTA TEGUISE
With a hire car, you still have the opportunity to explore the whole island in a relatively short time. A popular destination is the Sunday market in Teguise, which is a few kilometres inland from Costa Teguise.
