Cala d’Or – An elegant seaside resort

Cala D'Or translates as “the golden bay” and is a picturesque and beautiful town on the east coast of Mallorca. Cala d’Or is considered a successful example of modern holiday architecture.

Especially in the town centre, visitors can expect white-painted houses that are rarely higher than two storeys.

Should you visit the island’s capital, just under an hour away, which is clearly signposted everywhere, here’s some guidance for the often difficult return journey, starting at the airport: first take the Camino de Son Fangós.

Visit Camino de Son Fangós by hire car

After about 1.7 kilometres, turn left towards Es Coll d’En Rabassa. Immediately afterwards, you will reach a roundabout. Here you take the third exit into the Calle del Cardenal Rossell. A little later you will come to another roundabout.

Here you take the fourth exit on the MA-19 direction Platja de Palma, Santanyi. Stay on the MA-19 until you reach the town of Campos. At the roundabout, first take the third exit onto Calle de la Rambla. At the roundabout immediately following, then take the third exit onto MA-5120.

Continue to Felantix. Here, at the roundabout, take the second exit onto MA -5120, Calle de Campos. Then turn right onto Calle de Mossèn Gabriel Vaquer. Shortly after, turn left onto Calle de Santanyi. Immediately after, you will need to turn right again onto Calle de Santueri.

Now you leave Felantix and continue on the MA-14.After a total of 52 kilometres, turn left onto the MA-4016. Five kilometres later, you continue on the MA-4012 and reach the town of Calonge. Here you turn right into the Calle de la Cala Llonga. Continue on the MA-4013 and after about four kilometres you will reach your destination.
