Exploring Orlando by Hire Car
Orlando is in its metropolitan area a million metropolis on an area of just under 262 square kilometers in the sunshine state of Florida on the American Atlantic coast between Miami and Jacksonville.
The main attraction of Orlando is without a doubt the Walt Disney World, which opened in 1971. You can spend days without getting bored in this gigantic and world famous theme park.
But also the many other amusement parks, the interesting museums, the cheap hotels and the good restaurants make Orlando a varied destination.
The surrounding area has a lot to offer beyond the glitter of Walt Disney and is great to explore with a hire car.
THINGS TO SEE IN ORLANDO
Starting your sightseeing tour, you can visit Orlando’s biggest attraction, Walt Disney World. The creator of Mickey Mouse and Goofy realized his dream of creating a fairy tale kingdom for young and old alike. Perhaps start your stroll at the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and take a breathtaking ride through the Wild West. Next, you could soar through the air a little more quietly on Dumbo the Flying Elephant. Or you could take a refreshing plunge on Splash Mountain, the whitewater ride. To finish off the first tour, you could then visit the Pirate Kingdom from “Pirates of the Caribbean”. But with that, you’ve only seen a tiny fraction of the Magic Kingdom theme park. The theme parks Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom and the water parks Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach are still waiting for your visit. For the day ticket, which allows you to visit only the Magic Kingdom Park, you will have to invest $95. However, true Disney fans like to choose the four-day ticket with the possibility to visit all parks. The ticket then costs almost $400.
After this overabundance of entertainment, you may feel like visiting a classic museum. At the Orange County Regional History Center, you can learn about the region’s past. The exhibit goes way back in history and gives an overview of the last 12,000 years. You will learn many interesting details about the native people, but also about the fate of the first settlers. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Sunday from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. A ticket costs nine dollars.
You can gain exciting science knowledge at the Orlando Science Center. There, for example, is the opportunity to experience a journey through the human body. The museum is open Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Friday and Saturday, you can visit it from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. A ticket costs $19.
Finally, you could stroll over to the Orlando Museum of Art, where an extensive collection of American art awaits you. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A ticket costs eight dollars.

FIND A GOOD RESTAURANT
You can find good restaurants outside of Disney’s fairy tale world, too. Perhaps book a table at Coq au Vin. Here you can enjoy the top-quality French dish of the same name. But the duck is also to die for.
FIND A GOOD HOTEL
The masses of tourists flocking to Orlando from all over the world ensure that there is no shortage of good hotels. We recommend the Peabody Hotel. You’ll stay in stylish rooms that leave nothing to be desired, and you can enjoy a huge pool area and good restaurants.
