Exploring Colorado Springs by Hire Car

Colorado Springs is located in the US state of Colorado, about 100 km south of the state capital Denver and has about 380,000 inhabitants.

Before the grandiose backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, this city presents itself, where you can still feel a lot of Wild West atmosphere. And there are some spectacular destinations in the surrounding area that are easy to reach by hire car.

Taking over the hire car

Many hire car travelers arrive in Colorado Springs via Denver International Airport, 86 miles away. At Jeppesen Terminal Level 5, Island 4, by doors 505-513 (east side) and 504-512 (west side), you’ll find shuttle services to take you to the hire car stations.

Before choosing a provider, you should only check if your provider is also located at the airport. After all, if their station is only in the vicinity of the airport, you may have to take a taxi to get to your hire car.

Booking the right hire car

If you want to travel primarily in the big city of Colorado Springs, you should choose a smaller car. This will make it easier for you to find a parking space. For trips further afield, a large sedan is the right choice. With it, even long distances can be managed in a relaxed manner.

Insuring the car properly

It’s easy to get into an accident in Colorado Springs’ turbulent city traffic. Protect yourself and book a car with comprehensive insurance without deductible. With the liability, you should pay attention to the amount of coverage. It should be at least one million euros.

Because if people are injured in an accident, you can quickly incur high costs. With a traveler policy, you can additionally protect yourself if the coverage amount of your lender seems too low. Talk to your insurance company and make sure that the policy also covers you in the USA.

age limit

You must be 21 years old to hire car at almost all hire car agencies in Colorado Springs and Denver. Some vehicle categories are only available to drivers 25 and older. And drivers under the age of 25 often pay an additional fee for the hire car. Check the rental terms and conditions to find out what your rental company charges.

Accessories

If you want to travel the mountain landscape around Pikes Peak in winter, snow chains can serve you well. And when looking for the hotel, a navigation device will help. You must always order any accessories separately from your rental company. Make your reservations well in advance so that your desired equipment is available on the day you pick up your vehicle.

Free kilometers

If you want to explore the Colorado Springs area, you will travel long distances by hire car. Therefore, always reserve a car with all the miles free.

Tank control

The best way to drive is to book with a rental company where you pick up the car with a full tank of gas and return it with a full tank. This way you avoid disputes about the correct level of the tank and you don’t have to pay a service fee for refuelling the car. You can find the filter “Pick up/drop off with a full tank” in the left navigation bar of our price comparison.

Bail

To avoid waiting a long time to get your hire car deposit back, book with a rental company that only blocks the amount on your card. And make sure your card’s credit line is sufficient to pay for the deposit and other travel expenses.

Customer Satisfaction Hire Car

Although most customers are satisfied with Denver and Colorado Springs rental companies, some do complain about the exterior condition of their rental vehicles. If you discover damage such as dents or scratches on your car, be sure to insist that your rental company confirm the defects in writing.

Keep the document safe to avoid being charged for damage you didn’t cause when you return the car. Since some customers also complain that attempts were made to sell additional insurance in Denver and Colorado Springs, we recommend making sure that the car is already adequately insured at the time of booking. Then you can turn down additional sales offers on the spot with the best conscience.

Safety Hire Car

For the most part, you can expect to get a roadworthy car in Denver and Colorado Springs. However, since there can always be exceptions, we advise you to test the car’s complete lighting system before your first trip. After you have done a short brake test in the parking lot of the rental company, the journey can begin.
