Exploring MINNEAPOLIS BY HIRE CAR

Minneapolis, in the Midwestern United States, is the most populous city in the American state of Minnesota, with a total area of just over 153 square kilometers and a population of about 390,000.

The image of the twin city, which also includes St. Paul, is shaped primarily by the mighty Mississippi River, which meanders imposingly through lively Minneapolis.

Numerous museums, select theaters and concert halls, and superbly restored 20th-century buildings

Century make Minneapolis a worthwhile destination. And if you drive into the surrounding countryside in a hire car, you can easily discover many other interesting places.

THINGS TO SEE IN MINNEAPOLIS

You can admire paintings by famous American painters of the modern era when you start your sightseeing tour at the Walker Art Center. But you’ll also find sculptures by Pablo Picasso and Henry Moore. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Thursday, you can visit the exhibition until 9:00 pm. Admission is free.

Right next to the museum is the Sculpture Garden with more modern art exhibits. The garden is open daily from 06:00 to midnight and is also free to visit. At one time, grain processing was one of the town’s main sources of income. You can learn about this period at the Mill City Museum, housed in an old mill. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Sunday from 12:00 pm. Tickets are eleven dollars.

There is an art exhibit worth seeing on the cultural history of the past 5,000 years at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. The show includes about 80,000 exhibits in the museum building, which opened back in 1915. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. On Sunday, the doors open one hour later. A ticket costs $12 Tuesday through Friday and $14 on weekends.

Maybe now you feel like heading to the Twin Cities of St. Paul to see the magnificent Saint Paul Cathedral, built from 1906 to 1915. It impresses with its richly decorated interior with beautiful ceiling paintings.

The good old days come alive when you stroll through Summit Ave afterwards. Some of the old Victorian-style houses still stand there. The James J. Jill House, once owned by a railroad magnate, can also be seen in all its glory from the inside. The house is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. On Sunday, you can check it out starting at 1:00 pm. A ticket costs nine dollars. At the end of your city tour, you’ll have the opportunity to just drift through the streets for a bit, soaking up the laid-back vibe of the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
