Exploring MYRTLE BEACH BY RENT A CAR

Myrtle Beach, with a population of just under 23,000, is a medium-sized city in the northeastern U.S. state of South Carolina on the border with North Carolina.

Myrtle Beach lives almost exclusively from tourism.

The almost 100 kilometers long beach, numerous golf courses in the area and many good restaurants and hotels make Myrtle Beach a relaxing destination.

And there are also many places worth seeing in the surrounding area to discover by hire car.

THINGS TO SEE IN MYRTLE BEACH

Myrtle Beach is, as the name suggests, primarily a destination for a relaxed beach holiday. You’ll look in vain for world-renowned cultural attractions here, but no one will expect or miss them, either. There are other excellent reasons for coming here.

Perhaps head first to the Family Kingdom Amusement Park . There you can expect carousels, bumper cars and roller coasters. The entrance to the park is free, only the use of the rides is charged. In the adjacent water park, you can then plunge into the depths on various slides or on the white water ride. There is a fee for this as well. If you want to use the rides extensively, it is recommended to purchase the Amusement Park and Water Park Combo Pass for $36. This gives you unlimited use of all attractions for one day.

The next day, you may feel like swinging the golf club. Choosing the right course, however, can present you with problems. Myrtle Beach boasts, with some justification, of being the world’s golf mecca. There are no less than 120 golf courses to play within a 70-kilometre radius. Thanks to its mild climate, it’s in season most of the year.

Back in the city, it is now time to conquer the beach. The sandy beach stretches almost endlessly along the sea and allows for long walks and baths in the warm salt water. In the evening you have the opportunity to enjoy a sundowner in a bar or to shake a leg in one of the countless discotheques.

FIND A GOOD RESTAURANT

With well over 1,000 restaurants competing for customers’ favor in this tourist metropolis. Unfortunately, most offer rather average cuisine. One exception is Sea Captain’s House, which turns freshly caught fish into culinary delights. The house was built back in the 1930s and exudes nostalgic flair.

DISCOVER A BEAUTIFUL HOTEL

You’ll be entertained when you reserve your room at the Coral Beach Resort & Suites. Here you’ll find a bowling alley, an indoor as well as outdoor pool, various pubs and an entertainment zone with arcade games. The rooms are also very comfortable and leave nothing to be desired.

A REWARDING DESTINATION IN THE SURROUNDINGS

An unpretentious city with a lively atmosphere awaits you when you steer the hire car to Columbia, the capital of South Carolina. It will take you about three hours to cover the 245 kilometres. In Columbia, you can learn a lot about the state’s history at the South Carolina State Museum and then stroll through the trendy college district to enjoy a cool drink in a student pub. When you drive your hire car back to Myrtle Beach in the evening, you can consider which destination to head to next.
