Exploring Dallas by Hire Car

Dallas is the third largest city in Texas and one of the largest in the USA. The urban area, including the suburbs, covers an area of just under 1000sqm.

The television series “Dallas” made the city world famous and indeed Dallas is a worthwhile destination with numerous museums, pretty parks and good restaurants.

The surrounding countryside also beckons with many destinations that can be easily reached by hire car.

For rental and travel we have compiled a few tips.

Taking over the hire car

At the Dallas airport, you will find shuttle buses in the “pick-up area” at the bottom of the arrivals terminal. 24 hours a day, they’ll take you to your hire car station. Just make sure before booking that your rental company also offers a shuttle service. After all, if it is only in the wider airport area, you may have to take a costly taxi to get to your hire car.

Booking the right car

You can explore the vast landscape around Dallas in complete relaxation if you book the largest and most comfortable car possible.

Hire car prices

It is a little more expensive to hire car in Dallas. But the price differences between small cars and luxury cars are enormous. You can usually get the best deals if you book well in advance of your trip and use our handy price comparison tool.

Insuring the car properly

In the metropolis of Dallas, an accident can happen quickly with an unknown hire car. In the event of damage, you are well insured if you have booked a hire car with comprehensive insurance without excess. With the liability, you should make sure that the sum insured is at least one million euros.

Because if people are injured in an accident, it quickly becomes very expensive. If your rental company’s coverage is too low, you can take out a traveler’s policy for further protection. Your insurance company will be happy to advise you. Before you sign the insurance contract, just make sure your policy covers you in the US.

age limit

You must be at least 21 years old to hire car in Dallas. Some higher vehicle classes are often reserved for drivers who are at least 25 years old. And drivers under 25 usually pay an additional fee. Check your rental terms and conditions to find out what your rental company charges.

Accessories

If you need accessories such as child seats or navigation equipment, you must always order the desired items separately and early with your rental company. This is the only way to guarantee that your desired equipment will be available on the day of your rental in Dallas.

Free kilometers

There are often very long distances between destinations around Dallas. Always book a car with all the miles free to enjoy the hire car excursions without any worries.

Tank control

If you book with a rental company where you receive the car with a full tank of gas and return it with a full tank of gas, you save a service charge for the first tank of gas.

Bail

Some rental companies actually charge the deposit for the hire car to your credit card and then take a long time to refund the money. Better book with a hire car company that just blocks the amount.

Customer Satisfaction Hire Car

Most customers are quite satisfied with the rental stations in Dallas. Only some complain about trying to sell extra services on the spot. Even when booking the car, make sure that your vehicle is adequately insured. And then consistently refuse to contract further in Dallas.

Before you begin your trip, inspect your hire car carefully. If you notice any defects, such as scratches or dents, you should get them in writing from your rental company. Keep the document safe so that when you return the car, you can prove that you are not responsible for the damage to the vehicle.

Safety Hire Car

Although most hire cars in Dallas are perfectly roadworthy, there can always be exceptions. For your own safety, check all of the car’s lights before your first drive and do a quick brake test while still in the parking lot.

In the city of oil barons, there are also some very good hotels. You might book your room at the Hotel Za Za. There you can expect colorful and stylishly furnished rooms that do not miss any comfort.

Suggestion for a trip by hire car

Denton: Lively University Town
A trip by hire car could take you to Denton first. You can be there in three quarters of an hour. In this university town with a population of just over 100,000, you can enjoy the lively atmosphere and observe American student life as you stroll around the University of North Texas campus.

Continue your drive to Fort Worth, which you can reach in three quarters of an hour by hire car. Fort Worth is a somewhat rough city that does not deny its past as a cowboy metropolis. At the Stockyards, you can outfit yourself in proper Western attire and then enjoy a sumptuous portion of meat at a steakhouse.

Afterwards, you can learn at the National Cowgirl Museum that it wasn’t just the men who cut a fine figure in tight jeans and plaid shirts. Works of art from the Wild West await you when you stop by the Amon Carter Museum to conclude your visit.

Waxahachie: Picturesque Town
Before you head back to Dallas in your hire car, you can stop off in Waxahachie. Again, the drive will only take you three quarters of an hour. You will reach a picture-perfect town whose streets are lined with Victorian-style houses. Of particular interest is the Courthouse, built in the Romanesque style. A half-hour drive now separates you from Dallas, where you can plan your next hire car excursion.
