Perhaps start your sightseeing with a train ride and board the Manitou and Pike’s Peak Cog Railway. No other cog railway in the world will take you to such lofty heights. It takes 75 minutes to ride up the 4,301-foot-high Pikes Peak.

On top, you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views of Colorado Springs, the Rocky Mountains and the prairie. A ticket costs $35. On weekends, the first departure time is at 8:00 am. At 4:00 pm, the last tram leaves for the top. Monday through Friday, the train runs from 9:20 am to 2:40 pm. The departure station is located at the Manitou Springs Depot, approximately ten kilometres from downtown.

Garden of Gods: Pure Nature
Nice hikes can be had at the Garden of Gods, which you’ll find just west of town. There are many bizarre red rock formations to admire, as the garden is located in the transition zone between prairie and mountainous areas. In the south of the park there is a stud farm. El Paso County Courthouse: Experience the time of the pioneers
Wide into the past of the city takes you a visit to the El Paso County Courthouse. The Pioneer Museum is housed there. It documents how hard it was for the first settlers to conquer the Wild West for a normal life. The Courthouse, built in 1903 with its gleaming white facade, is also worth seeing. Admission to the museum is free. The exhibit is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame: Real Cowboy Feeling
What would the Wild West be without a hearty rodeo? You can learn all about this sport when you visit the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. Numerous cowboy paraphernalia and the Hall of Fame, which lists the best rodeo riders, round out the exhibit. From September to April, the museum is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 17:00. During the summer months, you can visit the exhibition every day. A ticket costs six dollars.
