Road Trip USA – Part 2
New Jersey – the “Good Old America”
You’ll love the drive through New Jersey. Rolling hills and small woods alternate with farmhouses and farmland.
This is exactly how you imagine the land where the Pilgrim Fathers established their first settlements in the United States. However, it was not Pilgrim Fathers, but Dutchmen who settled here as early as 1609.
Philadelphia – the Mother of the Nation
After a relaxing drive, it’s now back to conquering a major American city. Five million people live in Philadelphia. In the history of the United States, the city occupies a prominent place. On July 4, 1776, Congress proclaimed the independence of the USA here. The rise to world power took its beginning in Philadelphia.
You should not miss a visit to the Independence National Historical Park. Here, the Liberty Bell, which ushered in independence, awaits you. For most Americans it is THE symbol of the United States. The park also offers a comprehensive information program about American history. In about 40 buildings you get an excellent overview.
Back to the full life
Enough history? Then head to Chinatown. This place is teeming with Chinese restaurants and shops. The first Chinese restaurant in Philadelphia opened back in 1870, and since then Chinatown has grown more and more. The district gives visitors the exciting feeling of being far away from America. Enjoy your short trip to Asia in one of the beautiful restaurants. As many Asian guests as possible in the restaurant of your choice is a good sign. This way, you can be sure of being served authentic cuisine.
Catering is provided
You should start thinking about moving on. How about having a picnic on the way? If you want to stock up on top-notch food, it’s a good idea to visit the “Belly of Philadelphia” at the end of your stay.
Located in an old train station building, Reading Terminal Market has everything to satisfy the epicurean palate. Many visitors are reminded of the old market halls of Paris, which were unfortunately demolished. Sometimes you just have to go all the way to America to rediscover an old piece of Europe.
From Philadelphia to Atlantic City – “Faites vos Jeu!”
After a good hour’s drive, another major American city awaits you. If Philadelphia stands for American history, Atlantic City lures you with the American dream of fast money. The gambling mecca offers a variety of casinos, which are also frequented by the proximity to New York and Philadelphia.
Try your luck at the Taj Mahal, the Indian-inspired palace of construction mogul Donald Trump. This is also a great place to dine, enjoy one of the spectacular shows, and then wind down for the day in the evening in one of the beautiful rooms. The next morning, the land of opportunity awaits with another part of Road Trip USA.
