Discover Örebro by Hire Car
A stay in Örebro is a very special experience. The city is picturesquely located near Hjälmaren, the fourth largest lake in Sweden.
Orebro’s landscape is also characterised by other bodies of water: the river Svarta runs through the town and flows into Lake Kenen, Örebro is connected to Gothenburg via the Göta Canal and Lake Vänern, and to Stockholm via Lake Mälar and Arbogaan.
The capital of Sweden is located about 200 km east of Örebro. The municipality is on both the Gothenburg – Stockholm and Oslo – Stockholm routes through the E20 and E18 European roads.
Sights in Örebro
First of all, all visitors should visit the castle, it is the landmark of the city, called “Örebro slott” in Swedish. Its location – on an island in the middle of the city – is unique.
In the old town called Wadköping, you can take numerous walks through the magnificent alleys and streets lined with typical red wooden houses.
An excellent view of the city and its surroundings can be had from the water tower, which is very easy to reach by hire car. You can get to its visitor platform by a lift and from there you can plan your next excursions in or around the city.
Exploring the Örebro area
Investing in a hire car is worthwhile in more ways than one: the city’s surroundings alone are magnificent, and Örebro itself offers numerous wonderful places and monuments that are easy to reach thanks to a well laid-out road network.
What you should bear in mind is that throughout Sweden it is compulsory to switch on your lights even during the day.
