Water dominates the landscape in and around Norrköping.
The town in the Swedish province of Östergötland is located on the Baltic coast, near the bay of Bråviken surrounded by beautiful lakes and small rivers.
The “Motala ström”, called “Strömmen” for short by the locals, flows through the town. Several bridges span it. Waterfalls and rapids appear in several places.

Sights in Norrköping
The city centre spreads out around the square “Gamla torget”. Historic houses from the 18th and 19th centuries in the regional architectural style surround it.
Here you can stroll for hours to finally reach “Drottningsgatan”, Norrköping’s main street between the train station and the interesting art museum. This is also a good orientation line especially for drivers.
At the train station there are good parking facilities, here you can park your hire car and go for a walk in the neighbouring parks: “Järnvägsparken” as well as “Karl Johans parken” are worth a visit, because you can look at an important cactus collection, which was already established in the 30s of the 20th century.
On the other side of the river are other buildings worth seeing, which can also be easily reached by hire car: Firstly, the city hall, built around 1910, which stands on the “tyska torget”, the German square. Right in the neighbourhood rises the “Hedviks kyrka”, the Hedwig’s church.

Around Norrköping important traffic axes cross Sweden: The European Road E 4 provides an important connection to Stockholm, the E 22 starts here and leads past Kalmar to Malmö.
On the one hand, the city’s surrounding countryside is dominated by agricultural land and meadows surrounded by hiking trails. South of Norrköping large forest areas dominate the wonderful landscape.
