Münster is known worldwide as the city of the sculpture exhibition. This only takes place every 10 years; however, some interesting sculptures always remain in the city.

Sights in Münster
Most of the sculptures are located at the Aasee and on the promenade. The Aasee is a recreational area that invites boating and walking. The promenade surrounds the old town of Münster and is reserved for pedestrians and cyclists.
Educational is a visit to the Botanical Garden, which is open to the public free of charge. Plants from all over the world can be found here; easy-to-understand explanations can be read on display boards. Münster has the best-known all-weather zoo in the world; animals can be viewed in all weathers thanks to the grounds being covered.
Few cities boast more churches than Münster. In the city centre, in addition to the cathedral and the Lambertikirche, the former Dominican Church also invites visitors. At the Lambertikirche are the cages in which the bodies of beheaded Anabaptists were displayed as a deterrent.
Exploring the surroundings of Münster
Besides the city centre, some parts of the city are worth seeing. For trips there as well as to the nearby Netherlands, it is recommended to use a hire car.
Roxel is the home of the poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff. In addition, both churches there are worth seeing. The Catholic Church of St Pantaleon delights with its main altar, while the district’s Protestant church is a typical example of simple church architecture for churches built after the Second World War.
Handorf is the historic coffee village; even today a visit to one of the cafés is a good idea, preferably after a walk in the forest and along the Werse.
