Discover Dornbirn by Hire Car
The trade fair, garden and shopping city of Dornbirn is located in the province of Voralberg in Austria. 45,000 inhabitants live in the pretty town in the Rhine Valley.
Due to its location, on the edge of the Eastern Alps, there are numerous mountain peaks in the immediate vicinity of Dornbirn, most of them accessible by developed hiking trails.
The 976-meter-high Karren is the local mountain of Dornbirn. A cable car leads to its summit. Once at the top, refreshments await in the panoramic restaurant before continuing along the forest nature trail to the idyllic Staufensee lake.
Sights in Dornbirn
Dornbirn is a fairly young town and is dominated by 19th and 20th century architecture. However, you can also discover some historic buildings on the market square with the town’s landmark, the Red House, or the St. Martin’s Church.
For museum lovers, Dornbirn has a crib museum and a Rolls Royce exhibition.
If you take a hire car to Bündtlittenstrasse, you will get a whiff of England, typical two-storey terraced houses adorn the street. Dornbirn is also a place for wellness in a class of its own.
In the Panoramahaus you can relax and let your eyes wander along the Rhine valley to the Swiss mountains.

It is worth taking a detour to the “inatura” with your hire car. An interactive natural history museum has been created on a former factory site.
Next to an earthquake or avalanche simulation, you can marvel at a glass river and enter special interaction areas.
