Discovering the Dalaman hinterland
Trips to the scenic Tausrus Mountains can thus be made at your own convenience, combined with hikes or real mountain tours.
Of course, a trip from Dalaman to the Lycian Peninsula, which is just around the corner, is a great way to admire the scenic beauty as well as numerous historical sites.
The rock tombs, funerary monuments and a well-preserved amphitheatre at Kas on the southern tip of Lycia are particularly famous.
Tourists also like to visit the pilgrimage site of Nicholas of Myra as well as the famous rock tombs there, the ruins of Olympos and Xanthos or the sanctuary of Apollo in Patara.
The list of ancient Lycian sites could go on and on. Many of these lie along the famous Lycian Way, a trail some 500 kilometres long that starts not far from Fethiye and winds along the coast to near Antalya.
