Road Trip Germany – Hard to beat as a travel destination
Garmisch – Lüftlmalerei and brave ski jumpers
The trip in Germany starts in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. In the town centre, you’ll be captivated by the typical Lüftl paintings on many house facades – an art form you’ll come across again and again throughout Upper Bavaria. Stroll through the town and follow the signs to the ski jump. Here it becomes clear just how brave the jumpers must be who flock to Garmisch-Partenkirchen each year for the New Year’s ski jump.
The summit calls
It doesn’t take long to reach the Eibsee cable car with your hire car. In just a few minutes, this will take you up to Germany’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze. If the weather is fine, you can enjoy a fantastic view as far as Austria and Upper Bavaria. But dress warmly. Even in summer it can get very cold on the Zugspitze. After all, you are at an altitude of 2962 meters.
Bad Tölz – Picturesque Old Town and Fun in the South Sea
The journey continues to Bad Tölz. Here you have the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful pedestrian zones in Germany. Sit down in one of the many street pubs and enjoy white sausages or a tasty Bavarian roast pork. Add to this a cool Helles beer and your holiday happiness is perfect.
After that, it’s straight to the South Seas. The Alpamare in Bad Tölz is one of the largest fun pools in Germany. Many slides and a wave pool make especially the children happy. But also the adults will have their fun here and relax in the hot thermal water after the slide fun.
On to Tobogganing – Even in High Summer
You can also toboggan in summer. Only a few minutes by car from Bad Tölz is the Blombergbahn. One of the longest summer toboggan runs in Germany winds its way down into the valley at an altitude of over 1300 metres. You can get up there relaxed with a cable car or sporty on foot.
Munich – One city, endless possibilities
Now it’s time to pay a visit to the Bavarian capital. Munich attracts with countless museums and theaters, the largest city park in the world and beautiful beer gardens under shady chestnut trees. Start your tour at Marienplatz. Take a look at the Glockenspiel. And while you’re there, don’t miss looking at the many tourists looking at the Glockenspiel. Then visit the Hofbräuhaus. Year-round brass band music plays here.
If you like it quieter, you’ll prefer the secluded beer garden in the courtyard. Afterwards, stroll through the Viktualienmarkt. From fish to meat to vegetables, you can buy everything your epicurean heart desires here. And everything is beautifully arranged. Admire the surfers in the Eisbach from the bridge of Prinzregentenstraße. Even in winter they perform their tricks. When the sun is shining, the English Garden with its many meadows will entice you to take a rest and an extensive system of paths to stroll along. While there, you can plan the next stops on your road trip Germany at your leisure.
