Discover Magdeburg by Hire Car
The state capital Magdeburg looks back on 1,200 years of history, making it one of the oldest cities in eastern Germany.
In the course of reunification, the city was gradually restored, so that the wonderful architecture, especially in the city centre, can now be seen again in all its glory.
Sights in Magdeburg
One of the most famous sights in Magdeburg is the cathedral. The Gothic cathedral with its two 101-meter towers is one of the largest in Germany.
In the immediate vicinity of the cathedral, another impressive structure was built two years ago. The Green Citadel of Magdeburg was designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser and was also his last work.
The colorful structure houses apartments and offices as well as shops and a cafe. An extensive shopping tour in Magdeburg is possible in the two large shopping malls, which are also located only a short walk from each other in the city center.
