Sights in Goslar
On top of the 635-high Rammelsberg, the Rammelsberg Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is open for tours and exploration.
The city and the surrounding area are best explored with a hire car. This also offers the possibility to explore the surrounding cities of Hildesheim, Magdeburg or Braunschweig flexibly and independently. The Imperial Palace of Goslar is one of the oldest and most extensive secular buildings of the 11th century.
Almost completely preserved, this building presents itself mighty and imposing to its visitors and invites to extensive exploration tours. The Klusfelsen is a natural monument standing in Goslar. For this reason, the rock may unfortunately not be climbed, but it is said to have mystical powers.
Cross the city you can always find one or the other well-preserved half-timbered houses. The oldest of these buildings have been here for more than 500 years and characterize the townscape.
Leisure in Goslar
In no other city in Germany is Walpurgis Night celebrated on such a grand scale as in the Lower Saxon municipality of Goslar.
Every year on the night of April 30 to May 01, witches, devils and ghosts haunt the medieval town as they have for more than 1,000 years. The marketplace is the heart of the city and a popular meeting place for young and old.
The Glockenspiel in the town hall is located directly on the market square and delights its listeners with its sounds daily at 09:00, 12:00, 15:00 and 18:00. Around the impressive square are numerous cafés, bars and restaurants that invite you to enjoy and linger.
