Another highlight in Brandenburg is the Havelfest. For more than 40 years, this folk festival with several stages on both sides of the Havel and the election of the Havel Queen, takes place.
For those who want to indulge in culinary delights, the Bismarck Terrassen is the place to go. This original restaurant features classic delicacies from the Havelland region on the menu, which really shouldn’t be missed.
Absolutely recommendable is also a trip by hire car to the capital Berlin, about 70 kilometres away, or to the nearby pretty district town Havelberg
Sights in Brandenburg
The Old Town Hall with its statue of Roland standing in front of it, more than five metres tall, should also not be missed on any sightseeing tour of Brandenburg. To the north of the town hall rises the parish church of St Gotthardt, the oldest building in Brandenburg.
A cultural and interesting afternoon is promised by the city’s museum in the imposing Frey House. Here, in addition to exhibits of the city’s history, is the Katte sword, used to execute Frederick the Great’s childhood friend.
