Relax and dream in Baden-Baden
With Baden-Baden, the state of Baden-Württemberg has a world-famous spa and holiday resort. The city is also known as a spa town, especially because of its mineral spa.
The center of the city is the Kurhaus with adjacent Kurpark, which together with the famous casino forms the landmark of Baden-Baden.
Leisure activities in Baden-Baden
The best way to get to know the city and its inhabitants is to take long walks through the lovingly landscaped park and the adjacent Kurhaus colonnades.
The Carcalla thermal baths are located in the city’s so-called spa district, as are the Friedrichbad and the ruins of the former Roman baths. Baden-Baden’s worthwhile drinking hall is supported by 16 Corinthian columns, and at its front 14 murals depict performances from the myths and legends of the region.
The New Castle sits enthroned on the impressive Florentine Hill and watches imposingly over the city. Adjacent to the castle is a dreamlike garden that boasts a variety of exotic plants. This can be reached and explored via the 130-metre-long viewing platform.
On the Buttert rock, on the other hand, are the ruins of Hohenbaden Castle. The tour culminates in the former knights’ hall. Here stands a harp more than four metres tall, its strings played by the wind and heard for miles around.
Notable sacred buildings in the city of Baden-Baden include the Stiftskirche, the Spitalkirche or the Sankt Bernhard Kirche. The Russian Church and the Stourdza Chapel give an insight into the Russian Orthodox church life.
Discover the surroundings of Baden-Baden
A hire car is probably the best way to explore Baden-Baden, as some highlights can also be found outside the city. For example, a trip to the Paradies water park is absolutely recommended. On the entire route, the plant overcomes more than 40 meters in altitude and holds all kinds of sights for its visitors.
