Sights in Augsburg

In the Middle Ages, Augsburg achieved great wealth through the patricians and Fuggers; the patrician palaces and splendid fountains of the old town still bear witness to this and leave visitors in awe. Definitely recommended is a visit to the Fuggerei, the oldest existing social settlement in the world.

Very impressive and well preserved are also the large fortifications and the medieval city wall with its towers. Worth seeing are the town hall with the climbable Perlachturm, from where visitors can enjoy a magnificent view of the Augsburg countryside, the cathedral and the St. Ulrich and Afra Church in Renaissance and Baroque style.
