Discover Samos by Hire Car
Samos is a beautiful island in the Aegean Sea in the southeast of Greece with a population of about 42,000 on an area of about 470 square kilometers. In the east of the island, only a one-kilometer-long strait separates Samos from the Turkish mainland.

Sights on Samos
Samos, which is 43 kilometres long and 19 kilometres wide, has been inhabited since ancient times and was an important centre for trade and shipping. The most significant surviving relics from this period can be found on Samos today in Phytagorio. Not only did the mathematician Phytagoras once live here, with whose laws students still have to grapple today, but numerous architectural gems of ancient architecture can be found there.
A small work of art is the partially accessible “Tunnel of Eupalinos” on Samos, which was long counted among the seven wonders of the world and regulated the water supply of the island as early as the sixth century BC. But there are also fantastic remains of various temples, including one to the goddess Hera, to marvel at.
Leisure in Samos
Samos has been a popular holiday destination for years, which is mainly due to the excellent infrastructure on the island. With a hire car you have circumnavigated the island quite quickly and thus get to the numerous romantic bays.
On Samos, the beaches are mostly pebbly and gently sloping, which makes them ideal bathing places, especially for families with children. Sandy beaches are only found in Marathokampos or in the east of the island.
