Sights in Jena
The “Seven Wonders of Jena” have been a great attraction for 300 years. So they were at that time altar, head, dragon, the Jenzig mountain, the Camsdorfer bridge, the Fuchsturm and the Weigelsche house. Today, unfortunately, you can only visit five of them, as the bridge and Weigel’s house no longer exist.
Many of Jena’s historic buildings were destroyed during World War II, so Jena presents a fairly modern and industrial look, but that shouldn’t deter anyone from exploring the city.
The most prominent building and at the same time landmark of the city is the JenTower, which watches over Jena with its 133 meters of height and can be seen from far away.
As a means of transport, a hire car is recommended, which opens up the possibilities of also making a worthwhile excursion in the surrounding cities of Gera, Halle (Saale) or Chemnitz.
