Discover Newquay by Hire Car
The southwestern English county of Cornwall is defined first by water: the coastal landscape is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, the English Channel and the Celtic Sea.
On the land, one wonderful place follows the next, in between are magnificent stretches of countryside, meadows, fields, mostly unspoilt nature.
On the north coast lies the beautiful town of Newquay, known as Tewynn Leustri in Cornish.
Arrival to Newquay
The town in the Restormel district was originally a small fishing village, it retains some of this village charm. As a result, guests big and small will feel very much at home. You can get here in different ways: The train station represents the terminus of the “Atlantic Coast Line”.
There is also an airport not far away, from where you can rent your hire car. One thing to keep in mind is the left-hand traffic throughout the UK.
Leisure activities in Newquay
The special feature of the place is, among other things, its location, on the edge of a cliff. Several idyllic sandy beaches can be used to relax or for a walk by the sea. In addition to a swim in the clean stretch of sea, the area around Newquay is very popular with surfers.
It incidentally holds the title of “The Surfing Capital of Britain”. If you want to try or learn this pleasure first, you can make use of a surfboard rental or a surf school.
On land, there are plenty of beautiful nooks and crannies to explore. These include an Elizabethan-style mansion, Trerice, the Trenance Gardens, which opened in 1906, and the Blue Reef Aquarium.
