Budget Hire Car is an American hire car company founded in Los Angeles in 1958. After various changes of ownership, its headquarters have been in Parsippany in the US state of New Jersey since 2013.

From here, the 800 service stations in the US are managed, as well as the locations in Australia and most European countries. Through subsidiaries and licenses, Avis Budget Group, which includes the Avis brand, has more than 10,000 locations in 175 countries.

Anywhere in the world, Budget is best positioned, especially at airports. In Germany, these are Berlin’s Tegel and Schönefeld airports, as well as Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Bremen, Stuttgart, Dortmund, Dresden, Hanover, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Friedrichshafen, Frankfurt/Hahn, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Nuremberg, Leipzig, Paderborn and Weeze on the Lower Rhine. In total, you can get Budget hire cars at 116 locations in Germany.

The fleet of vehicles at Budget starts with small four-seaters, such as a Renault Twingo. Then there are numerous gradations from five-seaters all the way up to the Renault Grand Scenic or BMW 3 Series. Seven-seaters, such as the VW Caddy, or nine-seaters like the Fiat Scudo are also on offer.

When booking, you choose the vehicle class offered by Budget. There is no entitlement to a specific make. Accessories from child seats to snow chains can be booked at most stations. A prior request is required.

For removals or other actions with larger transport volumes, Budget offers Sprinters up to 3.5 tonnes. Sprinters with a long wheelbase can also be ordered for particularly voluminous transports. However, this offer is not available at all of the 116 German locations. For even larger transports, trucks of up to 7.5 tonnes can also be booked through partner company Avis.

Even today, Budget advertises itself as being a particularly good value hire car company that keeps an eye on its customer’s financial budget – hence the name.
