Avis Hire Car

Avis Hire Car is part of the Avis Budget Group and is one of the world’s largest hire car companies, with over 7,000 locations in 179 countries

The company is now headquartered in Parsippanny in the US state of New Jersey. The company was founded in 1946 by Warren Avis in Detroit. As early as 1972, Avis introduced the first computerized reservation system in the hire car business.

Avis has been a partner of Lufthansa since 1970 and offers hire cars at more than 120 airports in Europe alone.

Avis in Germany

In 1965, Avis Germany, now headquartered in Oberursel, emerged from Metro Autovermietung. Today, over 1200 employees look after around 25,000 vehicles at 344 stations in Germany.

On average, Avis hire cars are three to four months old, according to the company. Attention is paid to a balanced mix of many vehicle brands, with a particularly high proportion of premium brands. However, electric vehicles from Renault and hybrid vehicles from Lexus are also represented in the Avis fleet.

The Avis offer

From Avis Basic, the tariff with very reasonable bargain offers, to Avis Prestige, the tariff where Porsche models are available as hire cars, Avis has different offers for all financial and vehicle requirements.

With the VW Caddy Maxi, a vehicle suitable for the disabled, Avis also has a vehicle in its range that can accommodate a wheelchair user and up to five additional people.

Moving is no problem with Avis either, as you can rent all sizes of vans from Sprinters to 7.5 ton trucks.

Environmental protection at Avis

True to the old company slogan, “We try harder,” Avis is also trying to set an example when it comes to environmental protection. In cooperation with the CarbonNeutral Company, the CO2 emissions of Avis activities are permanently monitored and minimized wherever possible.

The vehicle fleet, which also offers vehicles with low CO2 emissions and alternative drive technologies throughout Europe, also contributes to this. Remaining CO2 emissions are offset through reforestation measures and technological projects for CO2 reduction.
