Discover Malmö by Hire Car
Malmö is a large city of nearly 260,000 inhabitants covering an area of almost 70 square kilometres in the historic province of Skåne in southern Sweden.
Originally, Malmö was founded in 1116 as a landing place.
It received its city charter in the 14th century, and some buildings, such as the impressive St. Paul Kyrka, date back to that time.

Also the fortress Malmöhus, which was built almost 100 years later. Today, the Öresund Bridge, which was completed in 2000 and is the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world, is of strategic importance for Malmö, as it is the gateway between Scandinavia and the rest of Europe.
The old town of Malmö with its picturesque half-timbered houses is particularly charming. This includes the “Lilla Torg”, the small market, dating from 1591. Not far from here is the town hall, the foundation stone of which was laid in 1546, but has been redesigned several times over the years.
The former Malmöhus fortress, which was also used as a penitentiary, now houses the Malmö City Museum with numerous exhibits from the fields of art, history and nature.
In the immediate vicinity, there is also a walk-in submarine from the Second World War to marvel at, to which a technology and maritime museum is attached.
Since April 2005, Malmö’s “Turning Torso” has been the tallest building in Northern Europe at 190 meters and is now considered a landmark of the city. The special feature of the structure is its rotating top, which offers a fantastic view of Malmö and the surrounding countryside.
