Terstappen Hire Car

Founded in 1961 by Hubert P. Terstappen Senior, Terstappen Autovermietung is today one of the most successful hire car companies in Germany. Whereas in the founding year the range of services included not only hire car but also a recovery and towing service as well as its own filling station, today Terstappen Autovermietung concentrates on the areas of hire car, freight forwarding and logistics.

In Germany alone, Terstappen Autovermietung customers have access to around 3,500 vehicles ranging from small cars and vans to 12-ton trucks. In Germany, Terstappen Autovermietung has 40 locations, 25 of which are in North Rhine-Westphalia.

In 2009, Terstappen Hire Car opened an In-Terminal Airport Station at Frankfurt Airport for the first time. This service is now also available at other major German airports in Berlin-Tegel, Düsseldorf, Munich, Hamburg and Stuttgart. In addition, Terstappen Hire Car offers its service in central city locations in Heidelberg and Cologne, among others.

In 2002, Terstappen Hire Car became the German master licensee for the two American hire car companies “Thrifty Hire Car” and “Dollar Hire Car”. This enables Terstappen to offer its customers hire cars internationally as well. The partnership means that a total of around 250,000 vehicles are available at more than 1,500 stations in 70 countries.

Socially, Terstappen has been part of the Buchbinder group of companies since 2013.
